The Allure of the Parisienne
As 2024 hastens towards the Nollaig, I most certainly feel lots to feel thankful for on this Thanksgiving weekend, having been working on some lovely projects in recent months.
A bespoke Loch Ness tartan coat will make its way to NYC very soon. It’s one of my side fastening, fringe edged kilt-strap styles, with a black/red glace velvet back. Its lined in gunmetal silk taffeta and has a printed Italian silk satin sleeve lining. If that’s not enough, it’s been painstakingly hand appliqued throughout with French embroidered tulle motifs. This one, is all about slow fashion detail, as well as becoming an heirloom.
The current project “air na bioran” which is Gaelic for, on the needle, is another house signature style of frockcoat with train. Cannot reveal too much about it yet, but I may do bit by bit small pics in the form of an advent calendar, until the Big Reveal, for summer 2025! This one is an especially exciting commission.
In the last 2 years, I launched my “Atelier Experience” and signed up with a couple of companies specialising in Bespoke holidays largely for an International clientele. Patrons, can book a studio visit, see and hear how I established Sandra Murray Bespoke 45 years ago, without becoming famous!
I’m squeezing in some essential personal pieces, such as a second trouser suit. I’ve had so much wear, and complements from my Murray of Athol, I’m adding my maiden name Macleod of Lewis to the mix.
Speaking of squeeze, I must get to see Stephen Jones chapeaux exhibition in Paris, as well as 100years of Lesage, plus the Paris version of the Dolce Gabbana exhibition, I saw in Milan. Living and working below the fashion radar, one needs to regularly take to the air to reach out to that Parisienne allure.
